February 19, New Delhi: Arianna Fontana became Italy's most decorated Olympian after leading the women's 3,000 metres short track relay team to a silver medal at the Winter Games, finishing behind South Korea. Canada took bronze.
The 35-year-old Fontana won her 14th Olympic medal, surpassing the record of 13 medals won by fencer Edoardo Mangiarotti between 1936 and 1960. This marks her third medal at the Milano Cortina Games. Fontana made her Olympic debut as a teenager at the 2006 Turin Games, where she won her first medal in the women's relay. South Korea claimed its first short track gold of the Games, continuing its dominance in the discipline.
