
GANDERBAL, MARCH 27: The Deputy Commissioner of Ganderbal, Jatin Kishore, chaired a detailed review meeting to assess preparedness for the upcoming Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra 2026.
During the meeting, the DC reviewed departmental action plans and emphasized the importance of initiating tendering processes early to ensure timely completion of all works. He directed executing agencies to strictly adhere to deadlines and maintain high-quality standards for all development and maintenance activities along the Yatra route.
Key arrangements discussed included drinking water supply, road connectivity, sanitation, electricity, healthcare services, telecommunications, disaster management, and other public facilities. Departments were instructed to expedite projects that directly improve safety and convenience for pilgrims.
Special focus was placed on increasing booking counters for SRTC services, macadamizing internal roads at Baltal Base Camp, strengthening medical infrastructure, deploying emergency response teams, and improving communication networks in areas with poor connectivity.
The DC also directed departments to submit worker details in advance to facilitate timely verification. The Labour Department and allied agencies were asked to prioritize the registration of service providers such as pony operators, palki bearers, shopkeepers, and tent operators.
Emphasizing coordination, the DC called for close inter-departmental collaboration and real-time monitoring to quickly resolve any issues that may arise.
The meeting was attended by senior officials from various departments, including administration, health, forest, transport, power, public works, and representatives from BEACON and telecom companies.
