Meghalaya State BJP leader and Minister of Arts and Culture, Sanbor Shullai, has indicated his willingness to contest the upcoming Lok Sabha by-election for the Shillong seat if directed by the party leadership.
He stated that as a disciplined worker of the Bharatiya Janata Party, he would abide by any decision taken by the party high command or the State leadership, including contesting the election if asked.
Shullai further informed that the party’s central leadership has already given a green signal for the State unit to contest the by-poll. However, he indicated that the process for inviting applications from prospective candidates is yet to begin, with the party president yet to formally call for applications.
He also recalled that during the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, he was given only three weeks to campaign across multiple constituencies, and expressed hope that this time the party’s candidate would be given adequate time to prepare and campaign effectively.
The by-election to the Shillong parliamentary seat has been necessitated following the recent demise of sitting MP Dr Ricky AJ Syngkon.
Meghalaya Cabinet Minister and Senior BJP leader Sanbor Shullai on Wednesday said that the BJP winning the Assam elections is a foregone conclusion.
He said that under the leadership of Assam CM, Himanta Biswa Sarma the BJP will sweep Assam polls
