
Gangtok, April 8 Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang paid a courtesy visit to Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi on Wednesday, where the two leaders held a "warm and meaningful" discussion on the state's development agenda, officials said.
During the meeting, the CM congratulated Modi on becoming the longest-serving head of government in India.
He also briefed him on Sikkim's key development priorities, emphasizing the need for enhanced support in infrastructure, sustainable growth, and public welfare.
Tamang expressed gratitude for the reopening of the historic Nathu La Pass trade route along the Silk Route, which is scheduled to resume from June. He said the move would greatly benefit local communities and boost trade in the region.
Tamang also formally invited the PM to attend the closing ceremony of Sikkim's Golden Jubilee Statehood celebrations.
