Sikkim LPG Supply Restored to Pre-Crisis Levels.webp

Gangtok, April 9 The Sikkim government said on Thursday that LPG supply to the state has now been restored to pre-crisis levels, and there is no shortage of cooking gas.

Earlier, the Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) had restricted LPG supply to 80 per cent due to a national shortage of cooking gas caused by the West Asia crisis.

"Through coordinated efforts between the Sikkim government and oil marketing companies, LPG supply to the state has now been restored to 100 per cent of pre-crisis levels," the Food & Civil Supplies Department said in a statement.

This restoration of LPG supply to Sikkim is expected to significantly improve availability across all districts.

The department said that it is closely monitoring the situation and ensuring that LPG distribution is carried out according to the regular pre-crisis schedule of distributors.

It said that the Union Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas has further enhanced support by doubling the supply of 5 kg Free Trade LPG (FTL) cylinders to Sikkim for distribution among migrant laborers.

This initiative is expected to provide additional relief and strengthen energy security, supplementing the kerosene allocations already made.

The state government is committed to ensure a steady and reliable supply of LPG during these challenging times, it said, and urged the public to contact the respective District Control Room helplines for any grievances or assistance.
