Singapore Man Charged for Children on Car Boot.webp

Singapore, March 26 An Indian-origin man was charged in a Singapore court on Thursday for driving a luxury sports car with his two children sitting on the car's trunk.

According to a report by Channel News Asia, Prem Anan Sugunakumar was charged with reckless driving that endangered the safety of children under the age of 14.

He is alleged to have driven the vehicle along an upscale residential area on October 20, 2025, and allowed the children, aged eight and seven, to sit on the rear trunk of the car.

In court, Prem's lawyer stated that his client would "be taking certain steps" and asked the court to accept a plea of guilty. He requested time to consult with his client.

The case will return to court on April 22.

Videos of the incident went viral on social media last year.

In a statement on Wednesday, the Singapore police said that children must be properly secured when travelling in vehicles and should not be placed in dangerous positions, such as on car trunks.

If convicted of reckless driving that endangers the lives of others, a person may face up to six months in prison, a fine of up to SGD2,500 (USD 1,950), or both.

If the victim is under 14, the offender may face up to twice the maximum penalty.
