Singh Chairs DISHA Meeting, Announces Weather Stations and Seismology Lab.webp

A meeting of the District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee (DISHA) for the Doda and Kishtwar districts was held in Doda, chaired by Jitendra Singh, a Union Minister and Member of Parliament.

The meeting was attended by MLAs from Doda West and Kishtwar, along with senior officers including the Deputy Commissioners of both districts. Detailed reviews were conducted on various ongoing development projects, focusing on their progress and implementation.

Key issues related to infrastructure development, disaster management, and public welfare were extensively discussed.

Addressing the media, Dr. Jitendra Singh announced several important initiatives for the region. To address the increasing incidents of land erosion and flash floods, automated weather stations will be set up in both Doda and Kishtwar to strengthen forecasting and disaster preparedness.

Highlighting the seismic sensitivity of the area, he also announced the establishment of a seismology laboratory in Kishtwar to monitor earthquake-related activities. Additionally, a High Altitude Himalayan Centre under the Krishi Vigyan Kendra will be set up in Doda to support agricultural research and assist farmers in high-altitude conditions.

The meeting also discussed multiple road infrastructure projects aimed at improving connectivity and boosting economic growth in the twin districts. Officials were directed to expedite execution and ensure timely completion of all works.

Meanwhile, the Union Minister also e-inaugurated key road projects under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana, including the construction and maintenance of the Thathri–Chira road in Block Thathri and the T06–Goila Morh to Trankal road in Block Khara, District Doda.

This initiative, carried out in the presence of public representatives including Rajya Sabha MP Sajjad Ahmed Kichloo and MLA Shakti Raj Parihar, aims to ensure all-weather connectivity, making travel safer and more reliable for local communities, while contributing to inclusive development in the region.
