In Guwahati, Assam, Minister Ashok Singhal stated that the people of the state will overwhelmingly support the BJP in the upcoming assembly elections.

Singhal said that the BJP will secure a historic victory, winning a third consecutive term and ensuring the security, safety, and development of the people.

He predicted that the BJP and its allies could win more than 100 seats.

Singhal also criticized the Congress, stating that they are irrelevant and have no presence in the constituencies. He claimed that their candidates are demoralized and are not even campaigning.

He asserted that the opposition is merely a name and there will be no contest with the BJP.

Regarding the departure of senior Congress leaders like Pradyut Bordoloi and Bhupen Borah, Singhal said that this has demoralized the Congress and strengthened the BJP.

He also pointed out that the members of the party no longer trust each other, which has further harmed the Congress.

Singhal stated that the BJP will prioritize the security and safety of the people, as well as the preservation of the state's culture and heritage.

He said that Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has taken the lead in this matter, and the people are hopeful that the state can now be free from the threat of infiltration.

Singhal emphasized that the BJP is also committed to ensuring that the values, cultural traditions, character, and heritage that the people appreciate are protected.

He also stated that the BJP's development approach, which focuses on progress from the micro to the macro level, has benefited the people and will continue to ensure rapid infrastructure development in all sectors.

Singhal said that the BJP government has focused on taking care of the aspirations of all, resulting in the creation of an aspirational society.

He added that the youth are dreaming that they can do something that will help them to compete with the developed states, and they are hoping to achieve something different that will also help Assam become a leading state.

Singhal asserted that the BJP has received unequivocal support from all sections of society, including women, youth, and people of all communities.

He said that he has received overwhelming support from his constituents, including Assamese, Bodos, tea garden workers, Gorkhas, Bengalis, and others.

Asked if he was hoping for a ministerial berth again if the BJP returns to power, Singhal said that constituting the council of ministers is the chief minister's prerogative, and if he is happy with my performance, then he will definitely consider me for his team.

Singhal asserted that he will definitely win the elections and his margin will also increase considerably.

The former student leader and member of Akhil Bharat Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) had defeated his Congress opponents both in 2016 and 2021 by a margin of 71,425 votes and 93,768 votes, respectively.

Singhal is engaged in a direct contest with Congress's Batash Orang, who belongs to the tea tribe community, and a total of seven candidates are in the fray for the Dhekiajuli assembly constituency in Sonitpur district.

Elections to the 126-member Assam Assembly will be held on April 9. Votes will be counted on May 4.
