Maharajganj (UP), April 3 A 65-year-old woman and her 18-year-old son died after being electrocuted while attempting to switch on a water motor pump here, police said on Friday.
The incident occurred on Friday evening in Siswa Town. The deceased have been identified as Rambha Devi (65) and her son, Akhilesh Singh (18).
According to police, Rambha Devi was found lying unconscious near the water motor pump after she was electrocuted. Seeing his mother in distress, Akhilesh attempted to lift her, but also came into contact with the electric current and was electrocuted.
Family members rushed both of them to the Community Health Centre in Siswa, where doctors declared them dead on arrival.
Station House Officer of the police station, Dharmendra Kumar Singh, said that after persuading the grieving family, the bodies were sent for post-mortem.
Further investigations are underway.
