Sitharaman: Too Early to Assess US Tariffs Impact.webp

February 23, New Delhi – Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman addressed the Central Board of Directors of the Reserve Bank of India, along with Minister of State for Finance M. P. Chaudhary and Reserve Bank Of India (RBI) Governor Sanjay Malhotra, at the customary post-Budget meeting in New Delhi today.

On the impact of US tariffs, the Finance Minister stated that it is too early to comment on the Indian economy, adding that the Ministry of Commerce and Industry is reviewing the trade situation, and the delegation will decide the timing of further negotiations.

On gold and silver, she said that the situation remains under control, adding that the Reserve Bank of India is closely monitoring prices even as central banks globally continue to increase purchases, which could impact India as an importer.
