Aizawl, March 25 Mizoram Governor Vijay Kumar Singh on Wednesday called on the state's youth to transcend regional boundaries and establish themselves as competitive players on the global stage.
Addressing a one-day skills development conclave at ICFAI University Mizoram in Aizawl, Singh described the state's youth as a "priceless asset" for the nation.
However, he also said that inherent talent alone is no longer sufficient in a rapidly evolving modern economy.
Stating that the public sector cannot sustain the employment needs of the entire population, he urged a strategic shift towards entrepreneurship and the private sector.
"Skills are the true currency of success in the modern era," he said, noting that India currently leads the world in daily startup launches.
He encouraged the youth to aspire to be job-creators rather than merely being job-seekers, emphasising that practical knowledge and adaptability are the qualities most in demand in today's fluid job market.
While promoting global competitiveness, Singh stressed that success must be rooted in identity.
He advised the youth to remain firmly anchored in the cultural heritage and rich values of Mizoram, suggesting that this moral and cultural foundation provides the necessary stability to reach greater professional heights.
The governor stressed that skill development must not exist in a vacuum but must be integrated with academic learning and market realities.
