New Delhi, March 10 An Indian defense manufacturing firm said on Tuesday that it has secured an additional order from paramilitary forces for nearly 10,000 bulletproof jackets.
SMPP Limited also said that it is "on track" to complete the existing order for 40,000 bulletproof jackets (BPJs) for India's paramilitary forces, including the Border Security Force, CISF, and Sashastra Seema Bal, on time.
SMPP is a leading Indian manufacturer of advanced ballistic protection systems for soldiers and weapon platforms across land, air, and sea.
Regarding the fresh order, the firm said, "This is in addition to the most advanced BPJs offering protection from armor-piercing bullets that SMPP is supplying to the CRPF and the Indian Army."
"Of the total order quantity, around 28,000 BPJs have already been successfully delivered. The remaining units are scheduled for delivery in the next financial year, in line with contractual timelines," the company said in a statement.
The firm said that, in recognition of its timely deliveries and consistent product quality, the paramilitary forces have "placed an additional order of approximately 10,000 bulletproof jackets, bringing the total order quantity to 50,000 units."
SMPP's BPJs are designed and manufactured in India to meet stringent ballistic and operational requirements, ensuring enhanced survivability and operational readiness for personnel deployed in diverse and high-risk environments, it said.
Ashish Kansal, CEO, SMPP, said, "The successful execution of this large order reflects our manufacturing strength, robust quality systems, and our deep commitment to safeguarding the lives of those who serve the nation."
Beyond personal protection systems, SMPP is expanding its capabilities across key defense segments, including the manufacturing of ammunition for 155 mm artillery guns, as well as drones and drone ammunition, further strengthening indigenous defense manufacturing capacity, the statement said.
Through innovation, scale, and consistent execution, SMPP continues to play a vital role in protecting India's security forces while advancing the vision of Aatmanirbharta in defense, it said.
