March 10, New Delhi – The National Highway connecting Srinagar and Ladakh via the Zojila Pass remained closed to vehicular movement from both sides today due to fresh snowfall and reported snow avalanches at several locations along the pass.
Teams from the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) from the Minamarg and Sonamarg sides made efforts to carry out snow clearance operations and restore connectivity across the Zojila Pass. However, due to continuous snowfall, poor visibility, and repeated snow avalanches in the area, the teams were unable to clear and connect the road today.
As a result, the Srinagar-Ladakh National Highway via the Zojila Pass remains temporarily closed.
Meanwhile, the Meteorological Department (MET) Ladakh has predicted light to moderate snowfall between March 10 and March 12, which may further affect the restoration work on the highway.
Further updates regarding the reopening of the pass will be issued once weather conditions improve and clearance operations progress.
