Srinagar, March 28 – The Srinagar-Leh National Highway, which was affected by an avalanche, was closed to traffic on Saturday as authorities cleared the snow.

Seven people were killed and several vehicles were buried in an avalanche at the Zojila Pass on Friday.

One of the victims was a 10-year-old child.

"The highway is closed to traffic, and snow clearance operations are in progress," officials said.

Traffic will be allowed once the road is cleared of avalanche debris, they added.

The J-K police, army, CRPF, Ladakh Police, SDRF, and civil administration are searching for the missing, they said.
