New Delhi, April 2 The Delhi Police has registered an FIR against some social media influencers and other unidentified individuals over the alleged unauthorized circulation of official documents of the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI).
The police said they received a complaint from an FSSAI representative on March 12, highlighting the circulation of the organization's official documents across social media platforms, which may have been altered.
The complainant alleged that some influencers and unidentified individuals, possibly in collusion with insiders, may have been involved in spreading the content "to create distrust and damage the organization's reputation."
Based on the complaint, a case has been registered under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Information Technology Act.
The police said that as part of the investigation, they are preserving digital evidence related to the case.
They have also issued notices to social media platforms, including the microblogging site X, seeking details of the accounts that shared and amplified the content, according to an official statement.
"We are thoroughly examining the authenticity of the documents," it added.
