
Shimla, March 31 A large protest took place on Tuesday at Shoolini University in Solan over the suicide of a former student who was allegedly harassed and denied the salary he was promised after securing a job through the university's placement program.
Protesters demanded justice for the student and the removal of Avnee Khosla, the trustee and vice president of the university.
Nitin Chauhan, an MBA student at the university, was placed in a company in Dehradun.
The Rohru native was promised a salary of Rs 50,000, but was only paid half, and was forced to work night shifts.
The protesters alleged that the university authorities did not take any action against the employer despite repeated pleas from the student, who ultimately committed suicide.
Meanwhile, the police said an investigation into the death is underway.
