The PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana is gaining traction in Udhampur, with residents increasingly installing rooftop solar units to reduce electricity costs and promote renewable energy.

The scheme aims to encourage households to adopt solar power by providing government support for rooftop solar installations, helping consumers reduce their dependence on conventional electricity and significantly lower their monthly power bills.

According to officials, residents across the district are actively installing solar panels on their rooftops, making the scheme's rollout successful in Udhampur. Beneficiaries have reported noticeable reductions in their electricity bills, contributing both to economic savings and environmental sustainability.

Assistant Executive Engineer Anuj Gupta said that more than 700 rooftop solar units have been installed in the district so far, with several more applications currently under process.

He appealed to residents of the district to take maximum advantage of the scheme by installing solar units at their homes and benefiting from the government initiative.

Several beneficiaries, including Renu Khajuria, Rajesh Sharma, and Raghav Chauhan, shared their experiences, stating that the installation of rooftop solar systems has helped them substantially cut down their electricity expenses.
