
Jaipur, March 15 More than 4,500 runners, including serving soldiers, veterans, professional athletes, students, and citizens, participated in the inaugural edition of the Jaipur Soldierathon 2026, held at Jaipur Military Station on Sunday.
Mizoram Governor V K Singh, who is the patron of Soldierathon, flagged off the marathon in the presence of South Western Army Commander Lt Gen Manjinder Singh.
The event was organized at the Gandiv stadium and aimed at promoting fitness, discipline, and respect for the armed forces under the theme "Run with Soldiers, Run for Soldiers".
The run also expressed solidarity with wounded soldiers by supporting the Paraplegic Rehabilitation Centre and raising awareness about soldiers who have sustained spinal injuries in the line of duty.
The event featured multiple race categories, including a 21-km half marathon, a 10-km timed run, a five-km tribute run, and a three-km fun run, allowing participants from various age groups to take part while running through the surroundings of the military station.
Several activities such as Zumba sessions, Punjabi dhol and bhangra performances, Gatka martial art displays, Army band performances, face painting, and interactive photo booths were also organized at the venue, a defence spokesperson said.
Cash prizes were awarded to winners across race categories, including Rs 10,000 for winners of the 21-km race and Rs 5,000 for winners of the 10-km race, along with prizes for runners-up in different age groups.
