Hyderabad, March 4 The son of film director Mani Shankar was arrested on Wednesday in connection with a case filed against him for allegedly obstructing police officials while they were on duty and assaulting a home guard, police said.
The incident occurred on March 1 when Shankar's son, Prem Shankar (40), was driving an electric vehicle which got stuck near a junction on Road No 2, under the Banjara Hills Police Station limits, after the car's battery ran out.
According to police, as the car stopped on the main road, causing traffic congestion, a female constable and a home guard went to the scene and tried to move the vehicle, but Shankar refused and pushed the home guard away.
"The constable and the home guard asked Shankar to come out of the car so they could move it, but he refused and pushed the home guard," a police official said.
Police later got Shankar out of the car, and the vehicle was moved from the road, even as he managed to escape, police said.
A case was registered against Shankar under relevant sections of the BNS, and he was arrested on Wednesday, police added.
