Kanpur, April 8 Samajwadi Party President Akhilesh Yadav criticized the BJP-led government in Uttar Pradesh on Wednesday, saying that "Kanpur has been turned into Badnaampur" under the party's rule.

Akhilesh Yadav visited the city to pay tribute to his security guard and meet the latter's family members.

Speaking to reporters, he accused the BJP of failing to deliver on its promise to clean the rivers.

"The situation of the drains here (in Kanpur) reflects the situation of the BJP. There are two rivers here that have been polluted by the BJP," he said.

The SP chief also alleged that a kidney trafficking racket was operating in the city.

"Can anyone imagine such large-scale scams happening in the healthcare sector? People's kidneys are being taken away."

"Poor people were being paid money in exchange for their kidneys," he added.

He then made a sarcastic comment: "A new OTT show might come out about 'Kaleen Bhai', 'Koreen Bhai', and 'Kidney Bhai'."

"The BJP has turned Kanpur into 'Badnaampur' through lies," he added.

Referring to the alleged accidents and crimes in the city, Akhilesh Yadav said: "The city's identity has been shaped such that when people talk about Kanpur, they are reminded of car accidents. A mother and daughter were burned alive... people also remember that."

Alleging that electricity bills in the state are skyrocketing, he termed the smart meters "victim meters".

Turning to the upcoming Assembly elections, he accused Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar of working with the BJP.

"Today I saw the Election Commission's post on X, which said that there would be no booth capturing in West Bengal, and that elections in the state would be free from inducements, disruptions, violence, and threats. If the Election Commission does not interfere, the elections will be free from inducements," he said.

He appealed to the people of West Bengal to vote for Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and the Trinamool Congress. "Every single vote will be to save democracy," he said.

Regarding the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls in Uttar Pradesh, Akhilesh Yadav said: "We have established the 'PDA Prahari'. And look at the effectiveness of the 'PDA Prahari'. We caught a person who was being used by BJP supporters to manipulate votes."

Separately, he also accused Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath of becoming an engineer and designing roads in the state.

Moreover, Yadav expressed confidence in his Samajwadi Party's victory in the upcoming Assembly elections. "In the coming years, the people of Uttar Pradesh will remove the BJP from power. The Samajwadi Party will form a government with a historic victory," he said.
