February 24, New Delhi – India fought valiantly in a shootout against Spain following a tense 0-0 draw in regulation time during the FIH Pro League's Hobart leg.
Despite holding a 1-0 lead until the 59th minute, thanks to a brilliant goal by Maninder Singh, a late equalizer by Spain's Bruno Font forced the shootout.
In the shootout, misses by Abhishek and Hardik Singh proved costly, as India lost 3-4, earning a single point from the hard-fought match.
India will next face Australia in the fourth game of the tournament on Wednesday.
