Patna, March 14 Bihar Assembly Speaker Prem Kumar on Saturday directed officials to review and strengthen security arrangements on the assembly premises and at legislators' residential complexes.

The directive came a day after the state assembly had received a hoax bomb threat via email.

The Speaker held a meeting at his office on the assembly premises with Patna DM Thiyagarajan SM, SSP Kartikeya Sharma, and other senior officials.

According to a statement issued by the Bihar Legislative Assembly Secretariat, Kumar directed the district administration to ensure mandatory verification of the identity cards of all persons entering the assembly premises.

"No person shall be permitted entry without an ID, unless specifically permitted by the principal marshal," he said.

The Speaker also instructed the officials to ensure that CCTV cameras installed across the assembly compound and at entry gates are strictly monitored.

He urged the administration to deploy security personnel in civilian clothes as well.

Kumar further directed the officials to conduct periodic mock drills and asked senior officers to personally inspect security arrangements at regular intervals.

Apart from the assembly complex, the Speaker instructed the district administration to strengthen security at the residences of legislators located on Beer Chand Patel Path and in the R Block area in the city, the statement said.

"Mobile security vehicles should conduct regular patrols around the residential complexes of legislators to maintain vigilance," said the Speaker.

Bihar Legislative Council Chairman Awadhesh Narayan Singh and secretary in charge of the assembly, Khyati Singh, also attended the meeting.
