
Haridwar, April 11 Two young men were killed when their motorcycle caught fire after it was hit by a speeding vehicle here, police said on Saturday.
According to police, the accident occurred late Friday night near Alipur village. The deceased were identified as Rahul and Rajkamal.
In charge of the Bahadrabad Police Station, Amarjeet Singh, said that the motorcycle was hit by an unidentified vehicle. The impact was so severe that the motorcycle was badly damaged and immediately burst into flames.
The two young men riding it died instantly.
The locals who arrived at the scene managed to retrieve the bodies with great difficulty, Singh said.
Singh added that the driver of the offending vehicle fled after the collision.
The police are currently reviewing CCTV footage from nearby locations in an effort to locate the driver responsible for the crash.
