
JAMMU, FEBRUARY 28: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha inaugurated the 2nd Edition of the Sikh Cricket Premier League (SCPL) at the University of Jammu Cricket Ground, emphasizing the role of sports in shaping discipline, leadership, teamwork, patience, and self-belief among youth.
Addressing the players, he highlighted that young people are the solution to every challenge and must be provided opportunities, mentorship, and platforms to excel. He stressed that sports, alongside purposeful missions, foster innovation, societal harmony, and nation-building.
The Lieutenant Governor praised the All J&K Sikh Coordination Committee and Hari Singh Nalwa Cricket Club for promoting inclusivity, with teams including youth from other communities. He noted the historic transformation of sports in Jammu & Kashmir under Prime Minister Modi, supported by substantial funding, including Rs. 200 crore assured by the Union Home Minister for further development.
The ceremony was attended by S. Ajit Singh, heads of Sikh organizations, players, coaches, youth, MLA Vikram Randhawa, Divisional Commissioner Ramesh Kumar, IGP Bhim Sen Tuti, Director Anti-Corruption Bureau Shakti Pathak, and other senior officials.
