
Secretary of Sports, Hari Ranjan Rao, stated today that India aims to increase exports of sports goods from over 3 thousand crore to over 80 thousand crore. He urged manufacturers to increase production by nearly 25 times to achieve this goal. Addressing the 4th edition of the India Sporting Goods Fair 2026, he described the current period as a golden age for the sports goods industry. Emphasizing the need for a bold and forward-looking approach, Mr. Rao encouraged the industry to think big, expand globally, and invest in innovation. He highlighted the importance of young and next-generation entrepreneurs in driving the sector's growth. He also called for India to host the world's largest sports goods exhibition with global participation. Reaffirming government support, Rao said that over 500 crore rupees have been allocated in the Union Budget for the sector.
