The match saw several shifts in momentum, but Semwal excelled in the closing stages, winning the game with a scoreline of 11-6, 11-9, 8-11, 10-12, 19-17. However, another Indian player, Suraj Kumar Chand, lost his match 3-1 (12-14, 11-4, 11-1, 11-6) against Egypt's Ibrahim Elkabbani.
Egypt's Yassin Shohdy recovered from losing the first set to win a close second game and ultimately defeated Manuel Paquemar from France 3-1.
Switzerland's Ambre Allinckx defeated the Netherlands' Tessa ter Sluis 3-1, while Hong Kong's Chi Him Wong comfortably defeated Ayaan Vaziralli 3-0.
Sofia Mateos secured a straightforward victory over Shameena Riaz, while Matthew Lai and Danielle Ray also achieved comfortable 3-0 wins in their respective matches.
