Mumbai, April 10 Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Friday directed officials to expedite the construction of the international memorial of Anna Bhau Sathe in Mumbai's Ghatkopar area, for which a provision of ₹332.62 crore has been approved.
Chairing the 16th meeting of the Slum Rehabilitation Authority (SRA), the CM said that even ineligible slum dwellers affected by the project should be accommodated under the rental housing scheme.
An official release said Fadnavis reviewed the progress of slum rehabilitation projects and stressed faster implementation. He reviewed the availability of rehabilitation tenements for project-affected persons and instructed officials to streamline the process.
He also inaugurated various office facilities of the authority online and released a guideline book on implementation of slum rehabilitation schemes in Mumbai, it added.
"The government has decided to undertake integrated and sustainable redevelopment of large slum clusters under the state housing policy 2025. Projects spread over 50 acres or more will be taken up under the cluster redevelopment scheme, which is expected to benefit around 6-7 lakh slum dwellers," an official said.
An additional ₹97 crore was approved for redevelopment projects at Mata Ramabai Ambedkar Nagar and Kamaraj Nagar, taking the total allocation for these schemes to ₹597 crore, he added.
Fadnavis lauded the 'Netram' system developed by SRA under the Prime Minister Gati Shakti initiative to monitor encroachments through satellite imagery, and directed officials to fix accountability for action based on the inputs generated by the system.
He further called for the use of artificial intelligence in the AutoDCR system to enable 24x7 automated scrutiny of development proposals without human intervention.
The CM said similar systems must be implemented in MHADA and the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation.
