J&K Urdu Council Organises Eid Milan Programme in Srinagar
The Eid Milan programme brought together prominent personalities in Srinagar, with speakers emphasizing the promotion of the Urdu language, the need for collective efforts, and the importance of reading and writing among the younger generation.
April 7, Srinagar: The Jammu Kashmir Urdu Council organised an Eid Milan programme at a private hotel in Srinagar, with participation from prominent personalities from various sections of society.
The event featured discussions on the Urdu language and literature, where speakers shared their views on the current status and future of Urdu. They emphasised the need for a comprehensive movement to promote and preserve the language.
The President of the Council, Abdul Rashid Hanjura, delivered the opening address at the beginning of the programme. Several speakers highlighted various concerns related to the Urdu language, including the need to strengthen Urdu education, encourage readership, and improve writing skills among the younger generation.
Speakers also pointed out that despite children being able to speak Urdu fluently, their reading and writing abilities remain weak, calling for greater involvement of parents and institutions. Concerns were raised over limited funding for Urdu institutions and the need to reverse this trend.
On the occasion, books authored by Dr. Mushtaq Ganaie, titled "Khutbat-e-Iqbal ki Asri Manviyat" and "Iqbal and Current Issues," as well as Dr. Faiz Qazi Abadi's book "Sohbat-e-Saliheen," were formally released.
A number of distinguished participants, including writers, traders, scholars, and social figures, attended the programme and expressed their views on the promotion and preservation of the Urdu language.
The event concluded with a collective call to safeguard Urdu and promote its use across educational and social platforms.
