Srinagar, March 11 The Jammu and Kashmir administration said on Wednesday that there is an adequate supply of fuel, including LPG, in the valley.
"Our stock position for essential supplies such as high-speed diesel, motor spirit, and LPG is comfortable. We have enough LPG supply for 13 days. Even at the maximum supply, we maintain a supply for about 15 to 20 days," said Kashmir Divisional Commissioner Anshul Garg to reporters here.
He said there is no need to panic as the government is closely monitoring the stocks of all three fuels. "Our control room, as well as the food and civil supplies department, is monitoring this daily. We are comfortably positioned in terms of supply," he said.
Garg said that with minimal disruption on the Jammu-Srinagar national highway, there is no need to worry.
"I would like to appeal to the public to rely solely on official updates regarding the supply situation. There is no need for panic buying. The Government of India and the Government of Jammu and Kashmir are closely monitoring this situation. If any decisions need to be made, they will be communicated by the government," he added.
He said that the Centre had issued a restriction on commercial LPG, but it did not apply to domestic consumers, hospitals, and educational institutions.
"If any violation is noticed, the deputy commissioners will take remedial measures to ensure that the public does not face any inconvenience in accessing essential services," he added.
