Chennai, April 2 Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin strongly condemned the proposed amendment to the Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Act on Thursday, alleging that it was a direct attack on Christian NGOs, churches, and other minority institutions.
Stalin, also the president of the ruling DMK, said, "I strongly condemn the Foreign Contribution Regulation (Amendment) Bill, 2026, proposed by the Union BJP Government, which is a direct attack on Christian NGOs, Churches and other minority institutions. Following attempts to seize Waqf properties, the Union BJP Government is now seeking to restrict foreign funding for other minority institutions."
Further, in a social media post, Stalin said: "Despite temporarily stepping back due to Opposition protests and upcoming elections in Kerala, where Christians are a significant population, there are clear plans to push through the #FCRA (amendment) in a special session of Parliament. This unjust and arbitrary Bill must be withdrawn entirely, and I urge @PMOIndia to take immediate action."
