Startup Helium Focuses on Smaller AC Solutions.webp

New Delhi, April 7 Helium Smart Air, a direct-to-consumer brand offering residential air conditioners, announced on Tuesday that it has raised USD 2 million in a seed funding round from India Quotient.

The funds will be used to scale product development, research and development, and distribution channels, according to a statement from the company, founded by IIT Kanpur alumni Ashish Sharma and Aman Munka.

The company has a research collaboration with IIT Kanpur for innovative solutions based on intelligent design, digital convenience, and accessible technology.

Helium Smart Air, which is working to make air conditioning more accessible in India, has developed its first product for cooling areas up to 100 sq ft.

With rising real estate prices driving vertical growth, the demand for functional and space-efficient ACs is increasing. However, according to Helium Smart Air, currently available options are still designed for traditional rooms, ignoring space constraints, energy costs, and climate change.

"Helium Air, the company's first product, designed for areas up to 100 sq ft, consumes significantly less energy and is designed to fit everyone's budget. It is engineered to run on even 1kW solar panels, making it unique in the market," it said.

"At Helium, we are creating right-sized cooling solutions for modern, functional spaces – from bedrooms and office cabins to small businesses and hospitality settings, where traditional ACs simply don't fit," said Sharma.
