State Task Force Reviews J&K's Readiness for HPV Campaign.webp

JAMMU, FEBRUARY 27: Commissioner Secretary, Health & Medical Education Department, M. Raju, chaired a meeting of the State Task Force on Thursday to review the preparedness for the rollout of the Human Papillomavirus (HPV) Vaccination Programme across Jammu & Kashmir.

The UT-level launch is scheduled for February 28, 2026, in line with the nationwide rollout by the Prime Minister. Officials informed that approximately 1,35,340 eligible beneficiaries – primarily 14-year-old girls (and those turning 15 within 90 days of launch) – have been identified across the Union Territory.

A detailed presentation covered microplanning, vaccine availability in all 20 districts, training, cold chain management through eVIN, AEFI surveillance, and digital registration via the U-WIN portal.

The Secretary emphasized interdepartmental coordination, particularly with the Education Department and ICDS, robust monitoring, timely reporting, and 100% coverage of the target group. He also directed intensified awareness campaigns to counter misinformation and build public confidence.

Senior officials from health, education, and allied departments attended the meeting, reaffirming their commitment to the successful implementation of the campaign and the long-term goal of eliminating cervical cancer as a public health concern.
