April 6, New Delhi — On Monday, Israel carried out fresh strikes on Iran, targeting its largest petrochemical complex, as tensions escalated over the standoff in the Strait of Hormuz.
The strikes targeted the South Pars facility in Assaluyeh, a key hub responsible for a significant portion of Iran's petrochemical output, with reports of multiple explosions at the site.
A senior commander of the Revolutionary Guards was also killed in separate strikes, further intensifying the conflict. Iran retaliated with drone and missile attacks targeting Israel, as well as locations in the Gulf, and warned of "much more devastating" action if threats against its infrastructure continue.
The escalating confrontation has heightened fears over global energy security, with the Strait of Hormuz remaining largely blocked, disrupting oil and gas supplies and pushing prices higher worldwide.
