April 10, New Delhi: Uncertainty has surrounded the planned talks between the United States and Iran in Pakistan, with no announcements yet regarding the arrival of negotiators. Both sides are accusing each other of failing to properly implement a fragile ceasefire.
US President Donald Trump has expressed displeasure with Iran's handling of the strategic Strait of Hormuz, which was intended to be reopened under the agreement. Tehran has also reacted angrily to Israeli attacks in Lebanon, insisting that it too falls under the agreement, a claim that Washington disputes.
Despite this, Islamabad is continuing with preparations for the high-stakes talks, which, according to official sources, will cover several sensitive issues, including Iran's nuclear enrichment and the free flow of trade through the strait.
