April 09, New Delhi – Voting is taking place in Assam, Kerala, and Puducherry for state assembly elections, with eligible voters turning out in large numbers to cast their votes.

In Kerala, over 27 million electors will decide the fate of 883 candidates across 140 constituencies. So far, 38% of the voting has been recorded in the southern state.

In Assam, more than 25 million electors are eligible to vote for the 126-member legislative assembly, with 722 candidates contesting. By 9 am, 17.87% of voters had already cast their votes.

After voting in Dibrugarh, Member of Parliament Sarbananda Sonowal urged everyone to exercise their franchise, calling it an opportunity not only to elect candidates but also to shape their future.

In Puducherry, over 1.14 million eligible voters are casting their votes for the 30-member Legislative Assembly. The Chief Minister of Puducherry was among the first voters, arriving on a motorbike shortly after voting began.
