Kurukshetra, April 4 Haryana Governor Ashim Kumar Ghosh said on Saturday that the country's youth must take the mission of building a "Developed India" as a national responsibility.
Addressing the 35th convocation ceremony of Kurukshetra University, Ghosh, who is the ex officio chancellor of public universities, said that the youth will play a vital role in making India a developed nation by 2047 with commendable contributions in innovation and entrepreneurship.
Earlier, the governor conferred an honorary doctorate in law upon Supreme Court judge, Justice Rajesh Bindal, an alumnus of the university.
Congratulating Justice Bindal, the governor said that the honour recognizes his outstanding contributions to the field of law and justice.
A total of 112 PhD scholars were awarded degrees in various disciplines at the ceremony, while 89 students were honored with gold medals and certificates for securing top positions in their respective fields.
In total, around 3,000 students were awarded degrees, including PhD, postgraduate, and undergraduate degrees.
Ghosh called upon the students to actively contribute to innovation, entrepreneurship, and nation-building.
"A convocation ceremony is not merely the culmination of an academic journey but the beginning of new responsibilities," he said.
The goal of "Developed India 2047," as envisioned by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, is a national mission, and the youth are its real architects, he said.
Ghosh encouraged the students not to limit themselves to traditional jobs but to become job creators instead of job seekers.
Highlighting the achievements of the university, Ghosh said it has received an "A" grade from the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), besides receiving a platinum award from the Haryana government for the effective implementation of the National Education Policy-2020.
