Kota, February 18 The identical twins, Mahroof Ahmed Khan and Masroor Ahmed Khan, achieved a shared victory at home, as they both scored an identical 285 in the JEE Main, achieving the 99.998th percentile.
The twins, who are students at Allen Career Institute in Bhubneswar, appeared for the JEE Main 2026 exam in the same session at the same center.
The results were announced on Monday.
Born on May 7, 2008, the brothers studied together, from primary school to coaching classes.
According to their coaching institute, their mother, Dr. Zeenat Begum, had been a gynecologist working with the Odisha government since the 1990s, before she decided to move to Kota with them in 2023.
"We moved to Kota in 2023, initially to prepare for the Olympiad after both brothers qualified for the International Science Olympiad. They later decided to pursue JEE coaching," Begum said.
She said the brothers have consistently excelled, with Mahroof scoring 95.2% and Masroor 97.2% in Class 10. They have also won nearly 40 medals (each) in national and international Olympiads, she added.
The twins followed similar study strategies and schedules, often competing against each other in tests. If one scored lower, they encouraged and helped each other analyze mistakes to improve in subsequent exams.
"They had an early interest in math, so they chose to pursue engineering rather than medicine. They aspire to study B.Tech in Computer Science at IIT Bombay. Their priority is computer science," she said.
Beyond academics, both brothers were interested in karate from a young age, Begum said.
The twins are now preparing for the JEE Advanced exam. Their father is also a doctor and is currently working in Odisha.
