In Sudan, 14 people, including five children and two women, have been killed in the Kordofan province. The Sudan Doctors Network, which is monitoring the conflict, said that the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) and allied rebels carried out the attack, wounding at least 23 others, including seven children.
The violence comes as RSF fighters and their allies in the Sudan People's Liberation Movement-North launched an offensive on Saturday in Dilling, the provincial capital. However, the Sudanese Armed Forces said they repelled the attack. They added that the military had recently broken a prolonged siege by the RSF on the city. The city had endured famine-like conditions during more than two years of the siege.
The Sudan Doctors Network has warned of a potential catastrophic scenario, similar to the situation in El Fasher in Darfur. The conflict in Sudan began in April 2023, when a power struggle between the military and the RSF erupted into open fighting in Khartoum. According to the United Nations, more than 40,000 people have been killed.
