Kochi, March 6 CPI(M) general secretary M A Baby said on Friday that there were no problems between the party and its veteran leader G Sudhakaran, and that the latter's unhappiness was a "misunderstanding" on the part of the media.
Speaking to reporters here, Baby said that Sudhakaran had expressed concerns on certain issues, and the party would address them.
The CPI(M) general secretary asserted that Sudhakaran would not do anything that would cause problems for the party, and that the veteran leader would use his skills and experience to ensure the Left front's victory in the upcoming elections.
Baby said that he and the state leadership of the party were in active communication with Sudhakaran, and all his concerns had been heard.
Throughout the day, the district leadership of the CPI(M) visited Sudhakaran at his home in Alappuzha following his recent decision not to renew his party membership.
He had also accused CPI(M) state secretary M V Govindan of mocking him at a press conference when a question about his candidature had been raised.
In a detailed Facebook post, Sudhakaran had expressed his displeasure with the Marxist party's state and district leadership over what he described as their "continued neglect".
Sudhakaran, once a prominent figure in the CPI(M) in the Alappuzha district, also said that he no longer wished to inconvenience the party leadership by remaining a member.
He has been at odds with the CPI(M) leadership for some time and has been the subject of headlines on several occasions for openly criticizing some party leaders.
