Peshawar, April 3 A suicide car bomb attack targeting a police station in northwest Pakistan's Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province killed five people, including three women and a child, late Thursday, police said.

Several nearby houses were also damaged in the blast. At least four police personnel were reported injured. Emergency response and rescue operations are ongoing as authorities continue to assess the situation.

Police said a suicide bomber in a car attacked a police station in the Domel tehsil of Bannu district, triggering a powerful explosion that was heard even from a distance.

The intensity of the blast and the subsequent explosion caused panic among residents. Gunfire erupted immediately after the explosion, further heightening tension in the area.

Preliminary information suggests that the police station was the primary target, officials said.

According to police, rescue teams have recovered five bodies from the site, including three women and a child.
