
Sultanpur (UP), March 18 A passport office in Sultanpur, Uttar Pradesh, received a bomb threat via email on Wednesday, which later turned out to be a hoax, police said.
According to officials, employees at the passport office informed authorities that they had received an email from their regional office warning that a bomb had been planted on the premises.
Acting swiftly, police evacuated the entire premises and launched a thorough search operation. A dog squad and a Bomb Disposal and Detection Squad (BDDS) were also deployed to scan the area.
Additional Superintendent of Police Akhand Pratap Singh said that no suspicious object was found during the search.
"Upon receiving the information, the premises were immediately evacuated and checked. No suspicious item was found. As a precautionary measure, the BDDS team also conducted a detailed search, but nothing alarming has been recovered so far," he said.
Singh added that the information was found to be baseless and there was no cause for concern.
"This turned out to be just a rumour. Necessary precautions have been taken, and there is no need to panic," he said.
