Chennai, March 26 The Immanuel Sekaranar Mission, an organization dedicated to the welfare of Dalits, has extended its support to the ruling DMK-led Secular Progressive Alliance in the upcoming Assembly elections, the DMK said on Friday.
Ramesh Deventhirar, the grandson of Tyagi (martyr) Immanuel Sekaranar and the honorary chief of Immanuel Sekaranar Mission, called on DMK organizational secretary RS Barathi at the party headquarters, 'Anna Arivalayam', here and extended his support, a DMK release said.
The mission is based in Paramakudi in the Ramanathapuram District and is dedicated to the welfare and empowerment of the Dalit people.
Immanuel Sekaranar (1924-1957) was a freedom fighter and a prominent Dalit leader.
Deventhirar also assured that the office-bearers of the mission would work for the victory of the DMK and its allies in the elections.
