Renowned academician interacts with student innovators at Gon’gul 2026 while the Vice Chancellor of SKUAST-K felicitates ground staff for their role in the successful conduct of the event.

February 16, Srinagar: Renowned academician and son of the soil, Professor Amitabh Mattoo, visited the ongoing 11th AgriTech Mela, Gon’gul 2026, at the Shalimar campus of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Kashmir, on Sunday. During his visit, Professor Mattoo interacted extensively with young entrepreneurs and student innovators, gaining insights into the emerging startup ecosystem being developed at the university.

Accompanied by Vice Chancellor Professor Nazir Ahmad Ganai, Professor Mattoo toured several technology and startup stalls showcasing innovative agricultural solutions. He praised the university's sustained focus on research and innovation, stating that the emphasis on next-generation agriculture is vital for the region's economic growth. He also commended the translation of academic research into viable business models that empower local youth.

Later in the day, a special ceremony was organized to acknowledge the contribution of frontline workers associated with the event. Vice Chancellor Professor Nazir Ahmad Ganai felicitated field workers, sanitation staff, and security personnel for their dedicated services during the four-day AgriTech Mela.

The Vice Chancellor commended their tireless efforts and said that the smooth conduct of Gon’gul 2026, which has attracted thousands of delegates and visitors, would not have been possible without the behind-the-scenes work of the ground staff who ensured proper maintenance and seamless movement across the campus.
