New Delhi, March 11 Indian missions in West Asia are coordinating with the relevant governments to assist Indian nationals stranded in the region due to airspace closures, a senior official said on Wednesday.

Indian nationals were assisted in traveling from Bahrain to Dammam and Riyadh in Saudi Arabia to facilitate their flights.

"Flight operations have been significantly increased in the United Arab Emirates, including a large number of unscheduled commercial flights, and they have been able to accommodate most people who were in transit," said Aseem Mahajan, an additional secretary in the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA).

Flights are also regularly operating from Jeddah, Medina, and Riyadh in Saudi Arabia, he said during a media briefing.

"There is very strong coordination between different ministries. Whenever assistance is required, Indian missions are immediately reaching out to help people," Mahajan said.

MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaswal said that two Indian nationals, one in Israel and another in Dubai, were injured in attacks and are now recovering.

"The well-being of our diaspora is of utmost priority to us," he said.

Jaswal said that steps are being taken to ensure the safety of approximately 9,000 Indian nationals in Iran, with students and pilgrims being relocated to safer locations.

"Our embassy in Tehran is assisting people in crossing the land border to Armenia and Azerbaijan and taking commercial flights from there to return home," Jaswal said.
