
Minister for Tribal Affairs, Javed Ahmed Rana, held a meeting with tribal writers, poets, and scholars to discuss the promotion of tribal literature and the preservation of tribal cultural heritage in Jammu and Kashmir.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Director of Tribal Affairs, Dr Abdul Khabir, Chief Editor of Gojri of the Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages, Dr Javed Rahi, literary personality Hassan Parwaz, and Chairman of the Gujjar Desh Charitable Trust, Arshad Choudhary, along with other writers and cultural activists.
The Minister praised the role of tribal writers in preserving cultural identity and stated that the government would continue to support the documentation and promotion of tribal literature and traditions. He also emphasized the role of the Tribal Research Institute, Jammu and Kashmir, in research and documentation related to tribal communities.
Participants stressed the need to document oral traditions, nomadic routes, and indigenous knowledge, organize literary events, create platforms for tribal artists, and develop a directory of tribal writers. They also highlighted the importance of digitizing tribal literature and promoting tribal languages, particularly Gojri.
The meeting concluded with a commitment to strengthen efforts for the preservation and promotion of tribal cultural heritage in Jammu and Kashmir.
