
April 10, New Delhi – Indian boxer Vishvanath Suresh convincingly defeated Japan's Daichi Iwai to win gold in the men's 50kg category at the Asian Boxing Championships in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia.
Vishvanath defeated Iwai with a 5-0 score, becoming the only Indian man to win gold at this edition of the continental event. Sachin Siwach lost 2-3 to Kazakhstan's reigning world champion, Orazbek Assylkulov, in the men's 60kg final. Four other Indian men – Harsh Choudhary, Akash, Lokesh, and Narender – settled for bronze.
