
March 12, New Delhi — National Conference president and former J&K Chief Minister Farooq Abdullah and Jammu and Kashmir Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary were unharmed after being targeted by a gunman on Wednesday.
The incident took place outside a marriage hall on the outskirts of Jammu. Farooq Abdullah and Choudhary had come to greet National Conference leader B S Chouhan at the wedding of his son. The suspect was waiting outside the venue and attempted to fire at the JKNC chief. Security personnel immediately responded, preventing the attack and apprehending the suspect.
The suspect was identified as Kamal Singh Jamwal, a resident of Purani Mandi. Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, who is also the son of Farooq Abdullah, condemned the attack.
