
Fatehgarh Sahib, February 17 Suspicious pieces of meat, packed in bags, were found in a drain in Sirhind, Punjab, on Tuesday, and the police have appealed to the public to refrain from spreading rumors.
The incident occurred near the Kushth Ashram in the city, and upon receiving information, a police team immediately reached the spot and assessed the situation.
The team immediately started cleaning the drain, and the bags containing the meat were carefully removed, a police officer said.
Assistant Sub-Inspector Avtar Singh of the Sirhind police station said that the matter is being investigated and has appealed to the public to refrain from spreading rumors. He also urged residents to maintain peace in the area.
The meat has been sent for testing. Only after the investigation can it be determined what kind of meat it is, he added.
The matter is being investigated from all angles, he added.
