In a significant step towards sustainable infrastructure, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) Project Implementation Unit – Jammu has commissioned a 90 kWp rooftop solar power plant at the Dondpur Fee Plaza in the Tehsil Mandal, District Jammu.
The newly installed solar facility is expected to generate approximately 12,000 units (kWh) of clean electricity per month, which is sufficient to fully meet the toll plaza's monthly energy requirements. This initiative aims to reduce dependence on conventional power sources and lower operational carbon emissions.
Officials stated that this move reflects NHAI's commitment to integrating renewable energy solutions into National Highway infrastructure. By harnessing solar energy, the authority seeks to promote environmentally responsible practices and significantly reduce the carbon footprint across its projects.
The commissioning of the solar plant marks another milestone in advancing greener and more energy-efficient highway operations in the region.
