
NOWSHERA, FEBRUARY 21: The Jammu and Kashmir Forest Department, led by Chief Conservator of Forests, Jammu, V. S. Senthil Kumar, and accompanied by Conservator of Forests, West Circle Rajouri, Sat Paul, conducted a tour of the Nowshera Forest Division.
The visit focused on the Khair Awareness and Assessment Programme, aimed at preparing the next ten-year Khair Management Plan (2027–28 to 2036–37). In the Sunderbani Range, the CCF, along with Divisional Forest Officer Nowshera Shweta Deonia, interacted with farmers from 35 villages and other stakeholders to discuss the assessment of Khair trees on private lands.
Khair Assessment Forms were distributed to ensure systematic data collection and participatory planning. ADC Sunderbani Ramkesh Sharma and revenue officials were also present.
Dr. Senthil planted a sapling at Nagar Van Charnote and emphasized the importance of scientific assessment, transparency, and community participation for sustainable Khair management. He directed field staff to complete the assessment process in a timely and coordinated manner.
